About
Welcome To My Blog!
Hi! My name is Nifemi (nee-feh-me) and I’m a twenty something year old blogger and writer currently living in Toronto, Canada. I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to the U.S. when I was 15. After graduating from university and completing one year in the workforce, I left the U.S. to pursue a postgraduate degree in Canada. I fell in love with Toronto and was lucky enough to continue living here and eventually work here after graduating.

Why I started Beginner’s Notes
This blog started out as a postgraduate class project, but I soon discovered my passion for blogging and chose to continue even after the project was completed. I named the blog Beginner’s Notes because it’s a way of documenting my questions, musings, and life advice as I navigate different experiences for the first time. My friends and I often talk about how we have no idea what we’re doing—something I know many people can relate to. There’s so much to learn about personal growth, self-discovery, relationships, and self-care as a young adult. Hopefully, this blog can be a source of support, inspiration, or comfort as you navigate life.
A few of my favourite things
Conversations: I’m a curious yapper—I love asking introspective questions because they deepen my appreciation and empathy for others. While each of us is unique, we share more similarities than we might realize and it’s a joy to discover what those points of connection are when I meet someone new.
Storytelling: I’m also a big fan of stories. From TV shows to books and movies, I love to discover new worlds and push the boundaries of my imagination—it’s one of the things that makes life exciting. My interest spans a range of genres—drama, romance, thriller, mystery, comedy—anything but horror (just no).
Travel: Another thing that gives me a zest for life is travel. From a young age, I’ve been fortunate to visit different countries and explore new cultures. I’m eager to continue expanding my list of places I’ve been and maybe even live in some of them for a while.
Food: The love I have for food can’t be overstated. One of the things I love about living in Toronto is the amazing variety of restaurants and cuisines. Even though I’ve visited numerous restaurants in the city, I know I’ve barely scratched the surface on the delicious meals prepared by talented chefs. Oh, and desserts are my weakness. If I’m not baking them myself, I’m always on the lookout for a new favourite spot.
